Currently all instruments are made to order. BCDC makes it's own shells in house, and this is the crucial point of the business. 99% of our competition buys their shells premade from other manufacturers. Making drums is the relatively easy part, making a quality ply shells is not. The only thing separating my competition from eachother is their abilities to make a quality drum, finishes, and hardware. My drums can/could feature nearly unlimited options and available species. Years were spent in finalizing the processes involved in the shell making here at BCDC. The quality and sound characteristics of our shells is unparalleled. Ready made completed drums are now the focus, customers would rather not wait to have a hand built drum or drumset. We have established relationships with many stores, and are eager to provide products for them to sell. An inventory of shells and completed drums is needed to compete. The timing of manufacturing can be greatly increased with the addition of more molds, greater veneer press capabilities, new bladder clamps and shop help. The chnages in the nature of pre-made vs made to order has created lags in completion due to the current slower process and as a result slow sales. Anytime we do have drums in stock, they sell immediately… consequently there is nothing to market and advertise. These are two huge areas of concern that need to be addressed. In summarization: Production/tools, inventory, shop/office help, and marketing are key elements that need to happen and a cash flow injection is required at this time not only to complete this criteria, but also complete orders for current faithful customers. The back log of orders is around 12, there is enough work for the next 3 months or more revenue willing.
